Overall Course Objectives

To expand and refine the student’s oral and written communication skills
To support project writing in English within an intercultural context
To provide the student with knowledge of English as a global lingua franca
To provide the student with knowledge of cultural and geopolitical issues in a global context

Learning Objectives

  • account for geopolitical issues, with focus on the Arctic, China, India, Africa, the Middle East and Russia
  • identify and analyse key cultural differences in global contexts and reflect on their significance for communication and collaboration
  • discuss the use of English as a global lingua franca
  • describe and use at least one English reference accent
  • describe and remedy typical pronunciation problems in English for speakers of Danish
  • structure professional text genres in accordance with the conventions of technical and mercantile English
  • structure oral presentations purposefully
  • provide peer feedback on oral presentations
  • reflect on sustainability in a global context
