Overall Course Objectives

To enable the student to analyze and design analog circuits with an emphasis on integrated amplifiers and data converters etc. in CMOS technology

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze different basic types of CMOS opamps (folded cascode opamp, current mirror opamp, two-stage opamp)
  • Analyze the frequency response of CMOS opamps
  • Design the frequency compensation for opamps with feedback
  • Apply noise models for transistors and resistors
  • Analyze lay-out of simple transistor circuits
  • Describe basic types and properties of data converters (A/D converters and D/A converters)
  • Analyze different types of Nyquist D/A converters
  • Analyze different types of Nyquist A/D converters
  • Make simulations of simple transistor circuits in MOS technology

Course Content

CMOS opamps, analog to digital converters, digital to analog converters, circuit simulation, industrial application examples.

Recommended prerequisites

34630/31631/31606, Knowledge about MOS transistor models and basic CMOS amplifier circuits. Knowledge about signal processing in continuous time and discrete time.
