Strategic Analysis and Development

Overall Course Objectives

To give students experience in assessing and developing sustainable business strategies for different business situations. Furthermore, the students acquire skills to collaborate and communicate in English.

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate knowledge of key concepts and models within strategic management and communicate this in English
  • Apply the course concepts and models to analyze the business environment of an organization to identify strategic threats and opportunities
  • Apply the course concepts and models to analyze a company’s resources and competencies to identify strategic strengths and weaknesses
  • Explain how company culture and history affect the strategic development in an organization
  • Explain the importance and impact of cultural differences
  • Identify the stakeholders of an organization and analyze their impact on the organizations choice of a sustainable strategy
  • Explain different types of generic business strategies as well as specific strategies for innovation and internationalization
  • Evaluate the suitability of different types of business strategies based upon an analysis of a company’s strategic position
  • Explain methods and challenges associated with implementation of strategic changes
