Advanced image and video coding
Overall Course Objectives
The aim is to introduce new trends in the areas of image and video coding and communication.

Learning Objectives
- analyse image coding models
- explain multi-resolution coding of images
- explain advanced motion compensation and rate-control in video coding
- explain interaction between communication networks and image and video coding
- develop advanced image and video coding techniques
- simulate image or video coding
- apply new image and video coding methods, e.g. for multi camera video
- optimize image and video coding methods
- apply machine learning in image and video coding
Course Content
The topics covered are new methods for optimization of entropy coding, cross-entropy, machine learning in image coding, wavelet and multi-resolution coding of multi-dimensional image data, interplay between communication networks and image/video coding, advanced video coding, high imae and video color quality, distributed coding, multi camera and multiview coding.
