Applied Statistics and Statistical Software
Overall Course Objectives
To acquaint the participants with statistical work on a practical problem, typically involving many data. Descriptive methods are presented. The statistical analyses are carried out using modern statistical software (R).

Learning Objectives
- Formulate and apply some commonly used statistical models
- Able to interpret the results from some simple statistical models
- Perform model validation
- Perform estimation, hypothesis testing, and prediction by means of some simple statistical models
- Perform simple statistical analysis by means of statistical software
- Interpret the output from statistical software
- Adequately interpret the results of statistical analysis
- Perform data wrangling, i.e. prepare raw data for statistical analysis
- Write a report describing the results of statistical analysis to people without background in statistics
Course Content
A project assignment based on an actual problem from a research institute or a company will be part of the course. The statistical software R will be used to analyse the data.

Lectures and excercises (integrated) and solution of practical assignments.

Minimum: 10, Maximum: 60.
Please be aware that this course has a minimum requirement for the number of participants needed, in order for it to be held. If these requirements are not met, then the course will not be held. Furthermore, there is a limited number of seats available. If there are too many applicants, a pool will be created for the remainder of the qualified applicants, and they will be selected at random. You will be informed 8 days before the start of the course, whether you have been allocated a spot.
