Recovery and purification of biological products
Overall Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to introduce the student to the downstream processing and recovery of products from bio-processes of various kinds, including pharmaceutical, technical, food and bio-based chemical industries.
See course description in Danish
Learning Objectives
- Arrange unit operations into an appropriate sequence for the recovery of a given type of biological product.
- Clarify the interplay between upstream and downstream processes.
- Argue the need for bio-intensification.
- Apply use of hybrid and integrated processes
- Apply the principles for the recovery of small-molecules
- Apply the principles for the recovery of monoclonal antibodies
- Apply the principles for the recovery of enzymes
- Apply the principles for the recovery of human growth hormone

Remarks
The quiz, which is considered an assignment, will take place on the last day of the course (week 13) during the lecture and not on the official date of the exam (as it is not an exam). So attendance to the last lecture of the course is mandatory.
