ELPIS – Leading Industrial Science

Leading Innovation in industrial Science and Technology is part of the European Leadership Programme on Industrial Science (ELPIS) developed as a collaboration between leading technical universities in Europe (The university alliance EuroTeQ).
The course objective is to equip leaders across disciplines to take charge of developing new, innovative and sustainable products from research, science and technology across universities and companies, so that it becomes market-leading innovation and a source of strategic renewal and resilience for a company.
The course will provide you with skills to catalyze market-leading innovations and drive strategic renewal and resilience in their organizations by spotting opportunities for development and creating groundbreaking insights into what technology can provide us with in terms of business advantages and security more broadly.
As technology and science fields are increasingly converging, new opportunities for groundbreaking innovation emerge. This requires exceptional leadership to identify opportunities, influence the innovation agenda, navigate uncertainty in the current geopolitical environment and inspire teams.
Does your company need to strengthen your capacity for leadership in technology and innovation? Are you looking for a challenging experience for your senior researchers or team leaders in R&D, product development or innovation, then DTU Learn for Life has the offering for you.
An empowering experience at the intersection of leadership and technology
With this new offering, we seek to address the current burning platform issues at play across society and industry to ensure European competitiveness, resilience, and security in a more and more complex and volatile world. This includes understanding both the stakes and the opportunities this opens for creating new services and products – including for both civil and military purposes through the dual use of technologies.
In this course we will guide you into an interdisciplinary understanding of the leadership needed in this situation, and with these demands to lead innovation and change at a large scale to enable companies to thrive and survive under these conditions.
Many of todays and tomorrow’s innovations happen where technologies intersect.
We will explore how to lead the opportunity frontier from key enabling and critical technologies such as advanced quantum computing and big data, digitization, life science and bio solutions, technology in energy, manufacturing and materials, nano-electronics and photonics, AI, and e-connectivity and cybersecurity. This is important because these technologies are the driving forces in Europe’s technological sovereignty agenda.
Nurture big opportunities
You will engage with your peer domain experts as well as with top academics across disciplines and explore the possibilities that the convergence between these technologies reveals. Our best professors will be forming a faculty selected specifically for this course.
Together with peers from across Europe and the inspiring faculty, you will be able to discuss game-changing opportunities.
The participants in the course will have unparalleled access to the latest research within and across research from DTU and partner universities, established companies, and startups.

THE ElPIS Programme
What is the ELPIS programme?
The European Leadership Program for Industrial Scientists (ELPIS) is an executive education program developed by the EuroTeQ University Alliance partners.
The ELPIS programme introduces a unique approach to leadership for industrial science, blending interdisciplinary insights to identify growth opportunities at the intersection of key technologies like life sciences, advanced materials, photonics, and AI. It aims to help participants shape company strategies through research leadership while building a network of science and technology leaders across Europe.
ELPIS aim to address the challenges faced by European industries and companies, which are under pressure to remain competitive globally. To achieve this, companies need to identify the biggest opportunities for innovation through research in AI, biotech and photonics and effectively capture these opportunity- and innovation spaces. The DTU courses “Lead the bio-revolution across life science – how convergence of technologies can transform your business” and “ELPIS – Leading Industrial Science” are a part of the ELPIS programme.
Programme design
The Programme consists of 5 modules each of 4 days length and are in-person and will be held on-site at the seven different universities in Europe.
The first module in the full program is “Leading Industrial Science”, which is followed by 3 technology modules of your own choice and finalized by a Capstone Project module.
