Concrete Structures
Overall Course Objectives
To make the student capable of designing structural elements in simple concrete structures.
See course description in Danish
Learning Objectives
- Describe the characteristics of a reinforced concrete structure and explain the principles in design of simple structural elements made of reinforced concrete
- Describe the safety concept to apply in design of reinforced concrete structures based on Eurocode 2
- Perform calculations of load carrying capacity in the ultimate limit state of simple structural elements
- Analyze structural elements, such as beam, columns, and plates, and estimate failure modes and associated load carrying capacity
- Apply the upper and lower bound theorems of limit analysis to simple reinforced concrete structures and evaluate their applicability to a given problem
- Design structural elements to meet requirements in the serviceability limit state and ultimate limit state according to Eurocode 2 provisions
- Describe the numerical method and apply numerical tool for analysis of reinforced concrete cross sections with biaxial bending
- Describe the numerical method and apply numerical tool for yield line analysis of two-way spanning reinforced concrete slabs
