Single-Course English 5 ECTS

Advanced Dataanalysis and Statistical Modelling

Overall Course Objectives

To introduce the participants to modern concepts and methods used for analysis of different type of data and to give them skill in using the methods in practice using the R program.
By the end of the course you should be able to analyze variation in data, identify significant sources of variation and assess their effect, usually by means of a statistical model.

Learning Objectives

  • analyze different type of data using the R program
  • analyze variation in data
  • identify important sources of variation
  • asses the importance of different sources of variation by use of a statistical model
  • present assumptions, method, results and interpretation of a statistical analysis
  • pose, delimit and carry out a project within the framework of the course
  • decide which model(s) are useful for analysing a given data set
  • apply and understand likelihood based methods
  • statistical model building
